Blackbirds and Brambles - A Garden for Wildlife wrap-around card by Hannah Longmuir
‘Blackbirds and Brambles’ is a drawing all about the benefits of having a bramble bush in the garden. It features two delighted blackbirds enjoying feasting on the blackberries. The purple-black berries are a wonderful food source for garden birds, pheasants, foxes, mice and other mammals in August/September, but a bramble bush in the garden provides year-round benefits for wildlife. From May to September, the pinkish white flowers provide nectar and pollen for bees, hoverflies, moths, butterflies and lacewings. The dense thickets are excellent nesting places for thrushes, wrens, finches and blackbirds in the springtime, and they provide shelter and protection in the winter.
