A Dickensian Patchwork: Gad's Hill Place (Charles Dickens' Rochester home By Amanda White
Charles Dickens's home near Rochester, Gad's Hill Place, is here depicted in the form of a colourful patchwork quilt.
He fell in love with the house when, as a poverty-stricken 9-year-old child, he spied it through locked gates. Thirty-five years later he was able to purchase it and it was here he died, a rich and famous author, in 1870.
